U.G
PROGRAMME
B.E. - Electronics & Communication
Electronics engineers are responsible for
developments in a wide range of technologies - from portable
digital music players to the hi-tech Global Positioning System
(GPS), which can continuously track and help locate anything,
anywhere across the globe. Electronics engineers design,
develop, test, and supervise the manufacture of electronic
equipment such as broadcast and communications systems. Many
electronics engineers also work in areas closely related to
computers. However, engineers whose work is related
exclusively to computer hardware are considered computer
hardware engineers. Electronics engineers specialize in areas
such as communications, signal processing, and control systems
or have a speciality within one of these areas - industrial
robot control systems or aviation electronics, for example.
Job opportunities
There is an increasing demand for people with
the knowledge and skills to design, build, test and develop
electronic products and systems. An electronics engineer can
be employed in various public and private sector organizations
such as the Indian Telephone Industries, MTNL, National
Physical Laboratories, AIR, Civil aviation, and the police
wireless departments. Electronics engineers are also absorbed
into the entertainment, media industry, research
establishments, and defence. They can also take up teaching
and research in one of the many engineering colleges in India
or abroad. It is a well-known fact that ECE is the most sought
after group in Engineering which obviously translates to the
fact that ECE students get placed much easily than students
from other disciplines.
Faculty
The department has a rare blend of very dynamic
youngsters guided by a group of eminent and experienced
professors. Faculty members regularly attend many workshops
organized by IIT's, IISC, ISTE and other institutions.
About the department
The department has well qualified and
experienced staff and it continually updates it's laboratories
with modern facilities. The department conducts various
seminars periodically. Various associations are formed related
to the department. The students are given different
mini-projects in the pre-final year so that their individual
ideas can be implemented. The staff and students are
encouraged to present papers at various colleges and many have
won prizes in the face of stiff competitions.
Laboratory facilities:
Each laboratory is fully equipped to meet the requirement
of Anna University Syllabi. The students can train themselves
in the Laboratories with the guidance of the faculty during
and after the college hours. The department is feathered with
seven different laboratories, viz
1. Electronics Lab
Microprocessor Lab
2. Digital Analog Integrated Circuits Lab
3. Microwave & Communication Engineering Lab
4. Fiber Optics Lab System Design Lab
5. Advanced Electronics Lab
6. DSP Lab
7. VLSI Lab
The laboratory facilities are constantly upgraded to take
care of the technological Changes in the respective
disciplines.
